Sunset Boulevard Lawn Statues, Beverly Hills.

Haderway Hall at 10000 Sunset Boulevard is a private, gated residence near the Los Angeles Country Club and UCLA campus, in the wealthy communities of Bel Air, Holmby Hills a and Beverly Hills. On the pristine lawns in view of cars and buses passing by are life size bronze statues of people in motion.

From policeman giving a ticket to a trespasser, to a dog playfully yanking at the pant cuff of one of two kids holding in play with one of them holding an American flag in the air, this entertaining entryway is fantastic, even though signage does warn that it's private property and there's no trespassing. Other sculptures include an adult holding a child's torso (arm and leg) and swinging the kid in the air, an acrobat flying in motion upside down and a jogger running past the lawn. Most public parks and spaces don't have artwork quite this nice but this in this region of Los Angeles, the very wealthy residents who work in the movie industry, banking or whatever, sometimes spread a bit of joy in the public spaces in front of their gates and fences.

When driving along this stretch near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard between Carolwood Drive and Ladera, look fast or you will miss it.

Staples Center Los Angeles - California.

Staples Center, 111 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA.

Staples Center is billed as the Sports Entertainment Center of the World. Built with as a sports and entertainment complex containing 20,000 seats, it is home to five professional sports franchises - the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. in addition to fantastic sporting events, Staples Center is home to entertainment events such the Grammy Awards and large concerts with top artists such Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Aerosmith.

Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the beautiful 900,000 square foot sports and entertainment facility is 15 times larger than Aaron Spelling's 60,000 square foot Holmby Hills house just a few miles up the road. While Aaron spent a cool $48 million to build his dream home that took five years to complete, Staples Center cost $375 million (less than 8 times the amount) and was built in a record 18 months.

Got sports? The Staples Center doesn't have an ice rink, a bowling alley and two Olympic-size swimming pools like the Spelling Manor. What it offers instead is a special floor area configuration to allow unprecedented turnover rates for entertainment events. The first arena in the world designed to accommodate three professional teams, it consists of 160 suites, 32 party suites and 2,500 club seats over five concourses and 22 concession stands.

The exterior colored glass entrance was designed to provide a friendly appearance to the surrounding neighborhood it faces on Figueroa Street where traffic constantly passes from the MetroRail Blue Line and street traffic. Also visible from the 110 Harbor Freeway, designers envisioned it would glow and pulse with light and sound at night. To create that illusion, materials used in the concrete walkways include silica carbide to give them sparkle. Two different colors of concrete used at the Center's main entrance were poured with alternating light and dark grey colors in various sized shapes and sphere and swoosh tail-like designs saw-cut into the concrete were filled with colored grout to add extra dimension to the cylindrical gray building.

More than a big gray box, however, the building's main structural support is an arching supertruss purposely reflected in the exterior design of the roof. All five of its concourses feature open terraces visible to the full 85 foot height of the public lobbies. The clever architectural design creates an esthetically-pleasing, yet economical product (relatively speaking) for faster and higher returns for investors such as L.A. Arena Company co-owned by Philip Anschutz, CEO of The Anschutz Company, and Edward P. Roski Jr., President, Majestic Realty Co. The pair are also co-owners of the Los Angeles Kings Hockey Club. The Anschutz Entertainment Group and FOX Entertainment Group are the majority owners and operators of the Staples Center.

Tickets for Staples Center sports and entertainment events are available at the Center Box Office located at 1111 S. Figueroa Street. The Box Office is adjacent to Star Plaza, on Chick Hearn Court (formerly 11th Street), between Georgia and Figueroa. Contact the Box Office by phone at (213) 742-7340.

Staples Center is located at 1111 S. Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles, next to the Convention Center. The closest stop the Blue Line is Pico Station.

The Staples Center is located on the south-west corner of 11th and Figueroa Streets in downtown Los Angeles. It is immediately adjacent to the Los Angeles Convention Center and is accessible to the 110 (Harbor) and 10 (Santa Monica) freeways.
